DEPRESSION πŸ₯΄

We probably all know what depression is or rather what it feels like  to be a part of it. According to my observation , people(though not all of them) born and raised in other continents especially America,Asia and Europe  seem to be abit lucky, just a little bit because they have their parent/parents, teachers and maybe a therapist to talk to about their problems or their depression. My continent Africa on the other hand entirely depends on how open minded your parent is otherwise we don't get to freely speak out about our feelings and whatever is depressing us. Infact most of our parents don't even know when we are depressed πŸ˜”.

Most of the youths fall into depression for a couple of reasons eg being jobless, disappointments, heartbreaks, peer pressure family's high expectations(for example your parents having high expectations from you since they educated you so you can help them in the future.Whenever you can't just find something that generates income you feel like you are letting them down )and that's when depression and frustrations starts kicking in bit by bit.The number of  people who can afford therapy in Africa is so small, the youths don't feel comfortable sharing their problems with their parents/friends or any other family members for some reason. Some even start doing drugs and they feel like it's their safe space which in no time becomes a part of them that they can't live without. One of the major reasons for having fear of sharing what is eating us up is that some if not all  relations tend to use your problems against you.

It's always so frustrating how we wish we could at least get someone to talk to, who won't go about telling everyone your problems or at least get a therapist whom we unfortunately can't afford. Anyone can fall into depression, the age doesn't matter, what really matters is how to get out of that dark hole. I just really wish in Africa parents/guardians could listen to their children's problems without either whooping them or judging them.We all have this people  who are like "I just wish the deceased had talked to me ,he/she seemed so happy I didn't know he was depressed"it's just so frustrating because there are alot more like the deceased out there that you are not going to help anyways.I feel like this all nice  talks about the deceased at their funerals"oh they were so amazing, she had a charming heart",yet you've ignored him/her your whole life, it's just so overrated and annoyingπŸ™„.There is just so much hypocrisy in our lives and it's doing us more harm than good.

It's really heartbreaking πŸ’”to hear that alot of people most especially the youths are taking their lives because depression won over them, because they didn't have anyone to trust with their frustrations and problems.I just wish that we had a platform where we can get therapy and peace without having to indulge in drugs or having to tell our problems to people who will frustrate us even more.I saw a show where you get to hide your face and comfortably talk about what depressing you are i hope we could get more of those to help each other.πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί
